Jamie was fantastic and went out of his way to help me. When I had a problem with my door lock they switched my room without any hesitation. The place was centrally located in Old Town and that made it convenient.

There were no downsides.

Central location, very close to the main walking streets and plazas.

There was construction at the hotel everyday, which made it incredibly hard for me to work; I was woke up at 9am in the morning on several occasions. There was no warning about this after making the booking, there was no warning when I was checking in. The construction was forced upon me without consent. At one point, I asked them to stop the construction until I checked out the next day, to which they agreed. However, I was woke up by construction the very nice day. RUDE.

The hostel is located in the historic center of Quito, so you can visit a lot of things by walking. The owner is very helpful and friendly, and the house is beautiful. My room was very cold though, much colder than the outdoors. But luckily they gave as many blankets as I wanted :-) You can’t enter the building with your key, you always have to ring the bell, which might be a bit unusual, but it’s for safety reasons.

Front door remains locked through the day and night and desk is not 24 hours , they live and sleep on the job. Bell ring in and out with hope for luck that someone opens

blankets were hard and dusty (dust allergy kicked in big time), bed was hard and uncomfortable and too short for tall people, room was very cold (even at sunny days), wifi wasn't working the whole stay (probably not a permanent problem though) and there was no mobile reception in the building either, water level in toilet was too high / toilet seat was too low (which might be problematic, if you are a guy 😆), funny smell in the room
