Acheninver Hostel

Wat een fantastische plek! Je moet er wat voor doen maar dan zit je op een van de mooiste plekken in Schotland! Wat een uitzicht!

Not easy to find

Het uitzicht was adembenemend! Om zo vanuit je bed de zee en heuvels te zien. Uitleg op de site was kloppend met hetgeen we aantroffen. Alle faciliteiten zijn er voor een aangenaam verblijf. We hadden boodschappen mee, was erg handig. Erg aardige hostes, behulpzaam. Heerlijke bedden.

Het regende behoorlijk en dan is het wel even lipen over de drassige ondergrond met de kruiwagen.

Excellent location with beautiful views across the water towards the Summer Isles. The pod was warm, cosy and surprisingly snug, even in changeable Highland weather. It provided a comfortable and practical base for exploring the area and was similar in concept to pods that we have enjoyed elsewhere. The bed was comfortable and the shower was exceptionally good, with excellent water pressure. The kitchenette facilities within the pod were useful, and access to the hostel’s very well-equipped communal kitchen was an added bonus. The manager was friendly and welcoming, and happy to share local knowledge and recommendations. The whole site had a peaceful atmosphere and was a lovely place to relax after a day’s walking and sightseeing.

The folding chairs provided for use inside the pod and on the deck were quite uncomfortable, particularly when spending time sitting and enjoying the view. As a couple, we would have preferred a small sofa or more comfortable seating area instead of the additional single bed. Families or groups may appreciate the extra sleeping space, but it was not something we needed.

The hut was so warm, cosy and welcoming. We impressed by the facilities provided inside - especially the shower which could have lifted the skin off you it was that powerful! The views took our breath away in the morning when the skies cleared and the clouds lifted - honestly, out of this world.

The weather when we arrived! Hahahaha. Honestly - there is nothing more we could have asked for. Not a negative point because the owners do make it very clear that the hostel is not very easily accessible down the track. I was pulled into a false sense of security by looking at Google Maps and seeing the path at the car park was stones but this only goes so far and in parts the path is rocky, grassy and muddy. We still managed it with a pram and a wheelbarrow though so if you're adventurous enough it can be done!

Shower was cool and wouldn't go any hotter.
