Canvas Atelier Hostel

Nice bed, cozy private room, friendly receptionists, very clean. Kitchen and shared areas are great, well stocked with cooking / eating equipment, and communal. Walking distance to anywhere in Porto and near a metro. Tucked away at a more quiet district with more local vibes. Near plenty of cafes and restaurants.

The shared bathroom can be noisy in the mornings (the lock makes a lot of noise – by some guests who are more rough or inconsiderately loud people).

Cheap and good value, comfortable bed and clean, helpful staff at check in, touch pad key cards that makes entry simple An excellent cafe a few doors away that serve good food until late. Also fairly close to Campanha station.

No fault of the establishment but there is always a risk with sharing a room and one bathroom with up to seven other people, in our case a drunk northerner who fell asleep in the bathroom for a few hours after singing at the top of his voice and then when he eventually woke took a shower then proceeded to put on another guests jacket and then tried to take the backpack of my friend who was still asleep (how I will never know!), luckily there was no real intent to steal, only an addled brain!

Quiet, very clean, great location and overall good value. Good ventilation as dorms have windows and high ceiling, bottom beds have curtains for privacy. Luckily there is extra toilet downstairs as the one adjacent to the dorm is with shower. At times people can take long in shower, especially tricky in the mornings in busy times.

It's really close to center (15-20 mins walk), and some shops around The hostel is really clean, good kitchen, there is a fridge to put your stuff. You have TV in the common area. There is a clothes rack on the balcony to dry your towel, clothes.

The wifi wasn't working in the room, so I had to use my data (wifi is good only in the common area) There was only 1 bathroom for 8 people in one room

Hostel is great, nice kitchen and bathroom. Cute garden. Staff is nice and straight forward. Only things is it can get really hot so you have to keep windows open, but if they’re open the sun shines in the room really early which can wake you up. And the wifi only works well inside downstairs

Location was good, everything walking distance. Beds were comfortable and everything was always super clean. Kitchen was really nice.

Wifi only worked in the dining room/kitchen area. The door to my bedroom didn’t lock at all, the swipe key wasn’t needed as it didn’t lock. I was in a shared female 8 person dorm which was fine, however the bathroom was also shared with the room next to us which had males in the room even though we were staying in a female dorm we shared the bathroom with men. The staff were fine, but felt very weird whenever I was around them. I felt judgement coming from them often and not sure why. Got told off for not drying my (clean) dishes, I had put them on the drying rack while I ate my food while it was hot and then would dry them afterwards, and the next day the staff member who told me off left her filthy scrambled egg pan and other dishes in the sink while she ate her food, at least I cleaned mine so someone else could use them while I ate. Considering the wifi only worked in one place I was on the phone to my mum one day in the dining room and the staff were talking about me (in Portuguese), I could tell as I looked up and they were looking at me then quickly looked away, so was quite obvious. All in all the place was absolutely fine, the staff were just not overly welcoming.
