"Lovely country spot with a view of the Kepler track"

6.0

Lovely view over the mountains. Good set up and nice to be out of town.

The property could do with a "working bee" things just seemed a little worn, messy, etc. Old books and magazines, wallpaper peeling and construction tape in carpark. Also please label the kitchen drawers - spent ages opening drawers and cupboards.

"Lovely stay"

9.0

Lovely hostel. We had a warm welcome on arrival, and the staff were able to accommodate a last minute request to upgrade to a private family room. The shared common area was in a seperate building outside of the lodge-style bedrooms, and had a comfortable common room with a cosy wood fire. The kitchen was spotlessly clean and had high quality equipment/pans/knives (almost unheard of in a hostel!). There was plenty of space in the shared fridges and a good system for keeping everything tidy (handy plastic baskets were provided for storing food in).

The TV in our room didn't work (not a big problem as it was just a short stay). The kitchen got quite busy at peak times (around 8am for breakfast and 7pm for dinner), with lots of people trying to use the ovens/sinks at the same time. It was nice and peaceful outside the peak hours, the perfect amount of space for up to four cooks to use at once.

"The kitchen is amazing. We will be back"

10.0

We were warmly greeted by Nina (owner) who welcomed us to an obviously family friendly Backpackers. These are hard to find these days & they obviously sit in this part of the market very well.Nina was amazing. I was there (with my family) to compete in Routeburn Classic running race. She gave me & another competitor a ride to the bus shuttle at 610am!!!!!

I know it's the SW of NZ however the wifi could have better reach across the units.

"Perfectly fine for a family stay"

8.0

We stayed as a family with young kids and weren’t out of place with other families there. Kitchen facilities were great and always very clean! Room was as described and comfy enough. We were warm enough for an April visit.

Walls were on the thinner side and unfortunately our neighbours one night were still up and being noisy at 11.30pm. I would question staying in the thick of winter. The bathroom would be very cold!!
