Oasis Hostel

The staff was very friendly Breakfast was on time and they had hot coffee (breakfast is just eggs and beans and cereal).

At the end of the day, I rate a hostel by if I can sleep or not, and this place was the worst in terms of sleep. The beds were extremely uncomfortable (super thin mattress, and if your bunkmate moved, you'd feel it) No AC, you can't go to bed till at least 0100 because of the heat. No enforced quiet time, ppl can be up partying till any time. The room faces a highway. There are no organized tours or group activities. I usually go to hostels because they help you do fun activities.

The free breakfast everyday was a good way to meet other travelers. The customer service is very kind and responsive. Washer & dryer service are on-site with a paid charge. Rooms & bathrooms are cleaned everyday. The female dorm 1 on 2nd floor has an en-suite bathroom which is convenient. Even during high season, I shared the dorm room with at most 2 other women. There's a hair dryer that I was able to borrow from the front desk.

The refund policy is unclear.

This is an off-the-beaten-track hostel away from the anarchy of main street and malachon madness. Tranquil vibes and an authentic local atmosphere, with what I considered to be a more mature demographic of guests (more comfortable silence than busy enthusiasms). Staff were super flexible, friendly and informative; they were able to give me great recommendations on around the area. The breakfasts were homecooked and hand made to order. The rooftop area also provides great open air relaxation. Hostel also provides padlocks for security which is a unique and appreciated offer. Beds and facilities were comfortable with no major issues.

I'd love to rate this hostel as Very Good but ultimately the location here plays a big part. Two of the main dorms are more or less open air to the busy highway below which is very noisy (and I've lived next to a North American gas station for years so my bar is high to complain about noise). I requested a dorm on the opposite side of the building after my first night and was accomodated as there were spare beds before their peak season - thank you for the flexibility!

Great family run atmosphere. Easy walking distance to along the river to Romantica and the Malecon. The property was well-maintained. The breakfast was made with love by the lady co-owner and her daughter.

It’s located on a main road and could be a bit noisy if you slept in a room close to it. I was in the back and had no problem in that regard.
