"A good surprise not to miss"

10.0

This place is fantastic. I would recommend you to stay if you are reading this review. The location is great. You will be sent a video as to how to find the place. All the locals seem to know the place if you ask. It is in the old Jewish section and right near the Souq. We stayed in the double room, and the bed was very comfortable and cosy. We slept so well. The decor of the place is amazing and different from anything else we have stayed in. I just kept finding bits to see. It was very clean and made you feel good being there. Jamil is a wonderful host looking after all our needs. Breakfast was very nice on the sun-drenched terrace with great views. He showed us around his local area and the next day gave us suggestions as to what to see and then went with us. He took us to his local Hamman, which was a really good experience as it was genuine, not something just set up for the tourist. Jamil was a pleasure to be with. I wished we had more time to spend here. I

It was all good.

This beautiful hostel is a destination in itself. It's cozy in a labyrinthine sort of way, with an incredible rooftop terrace overlooking the adobe Jewish quarters and the oasis. Very clean, hot shower, fast wifi and tasty breakfast. The owner speaks good English and is full of useful information about the area. Walking from the Todra gorge back to Tineghir through the oasis was perhaps the most beautiful part of my travels in Morocco. Don't miss it.

Amazing owner and staff. They even made us dinner in the evening and showed us all the local secrets. Huge cozy roof area. Playfully decorated, authentic old clay house.

"Cozy and colourful"

10.0

We had a very cozy time at Hike and Chill Hostel! The host is a very chilled and friendly person and the overall atmosphere in the hostel is super relaxed and light. It has a beautiful terrace, a cozy eating and chill out corner, many small hidden spots to read and relax or to talk to each other. The walls are painted beautifully and gives the hostel this very colourful taste! And: one of the cutest cats of the world lives there! Absolutely recommended!

"Exciting experience with locals and a cozy homestay."

10.0

In the hike & chill homestay you’ll find not only a cozy hostel, you’ll meet new friends and a super host Jamal! If you are interested in exploring Tinghir out of a local’s eyes you should definitely meet Jamal (the host). Jamal forms a family out of all visitors in the hostel. :)

"Hike & Chill Hostel was a peak experience in my global travels."

10.0

In over 40 years of hosteling, I never arrived at a home stay that served its own destination. The multi-layered “Hike and Chill” sums up the delight of the Moroccan traveler seeking verifiable new terrain to explore. Jamal has created an intoxicating work of art in the old Jewish quarter of Tinghir (made famous by a French documentary) with walls transformed into painted murals by visitors (as a B&B work exchange). Implausibly, this bold expression manages to surpass the vivid red hues of the landscape and blue skies while complementing the authentic home environment of his native Berber culture. Beyond the bonafide “chill” salons and terrace with amazing views — of the town, neighboring palmera and the surrounding Atlas Mountains — Jamal is the perfect host offering outstanding personal service. It was uncanny how, for example, he perceived a need before I was even aware of it, whether it was a visit to the hamam, finding me a djellaba, cautioning me to watch my step in the climb up the terrace, or handing over my eyeglasses that I didn’t even realize I misplaced yet! He also proved to be an excellent guide of a formerly accessible region Morocco frequented by nomads and generally unknown to tourists. The “Hike & Chill” Atlas Mountain excursion into his native terrain unfolded the enigma of the Berbers — an answer to a dream providing a peak experience of unity of land, humanity and spirit.
