The Heights Bunkhouse

I booked a 2-bed dorm for my sister and me, but on arrival we were placed in a cramped 3-bed dorm with a man we had never met. This was not what we paid for, and it felt neither safe nor comfortable given how small the room was (beds less than half a meter apart). We asked multiple times to be moved or for the man to be relocated. Only after returning to reception several times were we eventually offered a space in an 8-bed female dorm. While this was at least safer, it was still not what we booked. The dorms themselves were filthy, the beds were extremely uncomfortable with thin springy mattresses, and there was no hot water. When hot water was finally fixed, the light in the bathroom didn’t work, so we had to shower with the door open. Renting a sleeping bag cost around £25 per night, which felt unreasonable given the poor conditions. The reception staff did not seem to understand that (a) we paid for a 2-bed dorm and (b) we did not feel safe being placed with a man we never met in such a small space. Eventually, one staff member did try to help by offering the female dorm, but it still did not resolve the issue of us not receiving what we had booked and paid for. We were assured we would receive a full refund, and I am now waiting to see if Booking.com or the property will process this. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and far below acceptable standards. I would not recommend this property to anyone. Below are the picture of the sheets on the bed. The whole hotel was as filthy as the sheets.
