Oban Backpackers

The hostel is centrally located with free parking 6pm - 9am in a public carpark nearby. There is a small Morrisons and Iceland just down the street. The showers were excellent and the beds pretty good. Common space had comfy seats and a communal table for meals.

As can happen at any hostel a man snored the whole night in the big dorm. It was the beginning of April so the hostel had just opened but there was still maintenance and cleaning going on with some signage etc yet to be put up. I would personally have not opened until it was completed.

The mattresses are disintegrating and thus quite uncomfortable - now I can sleep on a bed of rocks but I can imagine how bad it is for others if it was slightly uncomfortable for me. I hope they'll be upgraded for next year.

Good location, friendly staff

Nothing in particular. Having to remember to take keys with me to use the bathroom over night, but I'm not sure what the alternative would be!

The shower, the kitchen

We are there to sleep. It's a pity that the matress are so thin with a plank in place of a spring bed... Everything else is really good.
