Sanithu Homestay and villa Galle

Cozy and clean place, very nice hosts. There are several rooms, I slept in the room inside the hosts' house and it was wonderful. Quiet and I got the privacy. I will come back to stay. Wonderful hosts

I don’t know where to start. Sanithu Homestay exceeded my expectations by far. For the price I was paying I did not expect to get the room and service they provided. The room is very spacious, extremely clean, especially for Sri Lankan standards, feels cool despite the heat and only having a fan and no AC (maybe cause of the high ceilings), didn’t have any mosquitoes while we were there and unlike a lot of rooms in Sri Lanka has no moldy damp smell. The Homestay is located in a residential area, not far from the bus which takes you directly to Galle for 50LKR. Round the corner there is a beautiful Buddhist Temple and just a 10 minute walk away is the lovely Bara Beach. But what really makes this place stand out is the lovely family that run it (mother Champi, father Ajith, daughter Minu and son Sanithu). First of all their English is quite good, especially compared to most Sri Lankans. But even more so they are extremely kind and friendly. They will go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. They have nice suggestions of what to do in the area and help you out to figure out how to get there. On arrival Sanithu and Minu, took my daughter (22 months) and myself to the nearby beach and spent the afternoon with us. During our stay they were constantly looking out for our wellbeing and spent at lot of time entertaining my daughter. And before leaving the kids once again took us on a little outing to the temple and took out their time to give us a proper tour and explain to me more out Buddhism. And Champi will prepare any and everything you want to eat (breakfast, lunch or dinner) at a very reasonable price. We were sad to leave this lovely family. I highly recommend this place to any and everyone. Whether you’re a single traveler, couple, family or even a large group, this is your go to place.

The WiFi I was using was not always working. I did notice that the Sanithu Homestay WiFi was always having signal. Not sure whether that’s for private use. Didn’t mention it though since I have more than enough data. I haven’t come across one yet since in Sri Lanka, but a bedside light would be very nice to have some dimmed light to read a book or whatever without having the big bright light on.

The breakfast was good ans there was plenty of it. On the terrace just under the roof , it was a quiet meal. I was lucky enough to see a family of monkeys in a nearby garden and a huge varan on a roof.

It takes some times to wait if you need a tuk-tuk but it's understandable . A young dutch lady was also there and, when she decided to open her wallet (Extremely rare !) it was long and noisy. 5 anti-personnal mines to lock, 2 cameras to stop and 5 lockers to unlock ! Yes, a typical dutch wallet... But you know that, don't you ? Just joking... in fact there was only 4 lockers.

*The home surroundings are beautiful. Very green and refreshing *The family is very friendly and welcoming *Has a kitchen, to cook your meals and a fridge to keep your food *Secure and safe, has a gate that gets locked at night. If you are getting back late from sightseeing, inform the hostess and they will keep the gate latched, so you can open it yourself *very close to all the local attractions *Easy to get transportation using the "Pick Me" app. Very reasonable rates *Despite the things we did not like mentioned below, we enjoyed staying here, because the family are wonderful people, very knowledgeable about plant life and recommendations of where to visit, eat, etc. 😀 *good place to stay if you're on a budget and not a picky person. 😉

*No filtered water available, could do with a water filter for the guests to fill their bottles *could do with a thorough dusting, before the guests arrive *A stocked kitchen with pots and pans, cutlery, knives, dusters, and dishwashing soap would be highly recommended, prior to guest arrival

The owners are very kind and very helpful. The food is very good and the room very spacious and clean. Very calm neighborhood. Sri Lankan breakfast is strongly recommended as well as the Develli Fish.

Everything was perfect. The family is very friendly and helped us for everything that we need. We felt like home. Food is great. Location is very good. We had happy days here with this beutiful family. Hope to come back to this place again.

Nice guesthouse in a quiet residential area owned by a very nice and helpful family. Short walk to the beach, supermarket and bus station (just 50RS to Galle Fort). The family will go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable and have all the information you need. Stayed a week to do some work. Included Wi-Fi was adequate for what I needed, and there was an option to pay a little extra for a fibre data package in case I needed a boost. Strong 4G signal also. Mainly cooked for myself, so only purchased 1 breakfast, but it was very good. Would recommend.
