Wake Up Weligama

The atmosphere and community at Wake Up is truly something unique. The daily list of activities helps even shy travelers to experience Weligama with other hostel guests. Mahesh is so lovely and is one of the nicest hosts I met during my time in Sri Lanka.

The location was amazing, just 10 min away from the hostel. The host and all the guests were amazing, we all went for surfing in the morning and host makes sure of planning social events which I loved. Would recommend everyone to stay! ❤️ I could not stay there longer as I had to meet my friends in Mirissa otherwise would have stayed there longer.

There was nothing bad about the place but I would suggest to take AC dorms as it could be quite hot during the day

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka by far. So sociable, lots of activities (surfing everyday, family dinners, nights out, meals out) which everyone does together. Comfy and clean. Mahesh - you are the best!!!

Super Social Hostel. Honestly best hostel all over Sri Lanka. Everyone always does everything together and it feels like being part of family.

Great host, easy to connect with people, very clean, super friendly stuff

Nobody was there for the check in and we had to wait for hours to get the keys, even if we texted in advance. Same for the checkout. Keep in mind that if you book the private room it’s not within the hostel, but down the road so it’s hard to get social with the other guests. The room was a bit dirty, the bathroom was leaking when it was raining and the shower has only cold water.

The hostel is tucked away from the busy street, but close to everything. The facilities are basic but the atmosphere is amazing. Mahesh, the manager and the volunteers will make you feel right at home. If you are looking for a fun community on the South coast, this is a solid pick!
