Aunt Rachel's Barn Hostel

Excellent service

Aunt Rachel's is as stated - a large barn on a farm with upstairs rooms and a big kitchen/dining area. We were the only people there so we had the place to ourselves. We were greeted by a lovely lady who let us choose our room - the one with the opening window on the north side is the best. We loved it!

In the end we had a great night at Aunt Rachel's however we warned it is "rustic".

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable room. Great shower and good towels. Very comfortable bed for a greats nights sleep

A lot of banging on the first night but it stopped eventually and the lift was out of order.

So clean quiet and comfy.

Adding a towel rack in bathroom would be nice.

Staff were very courteous and fitted our needs for a room

Small point. Door hinges & handles in halls & bedrooms could do with an oil as very squeaky.

Rotten fruit and out of date milk and bread for breakfast. Broken window blinds in the room. No best before dates available on packaged snacks

Irene was lovely. A shame about the out of date breakfast No staff on reception, so we had to trouble an elderly lady called Irene to come and let us in during a heavy rain storm as there were no staff on reception despite arriving within the check-in time.

Rotten fruit and out of date milk and bread for breakfast. The shower was temperamental, not flowing warm constantly. There was no staff on reception and no correspondence from the host. We felt ill after eating the prepacked cakes, which none of them had the original packaging or best before dates on them. Very disappointing
