Aunt Rachel's Barn Hostel

Location near to Rathlin, carrick a Rede and the Giant’s Causeway.

Noisy doors, no window in Bedroom except for high rooflight.

Nice set up , nice eating room/kitchen . Bathroom nice but separate

The mattress in the bunk bed was appalling , we needed a twin room so had to use the bunk . Moving onto the top bunk meant not sleeping with the bright green light on the wall .

Great room and kitchen and bathroom facilities

Could do with a tidy up outside. Stairwells need cleaned. Door hinges very squeaky, especially when you have a one year old trying to get to sleep

Clean and comfortable rooms, plenty of towels. Self service breakfast offers flexibility. Kids enjoyed play area.

There is breakfast provided for people staying in the barn (not a full English- cereals and toast) Close to giants causeway- though if you’re backpacking it’s a fair walk from the bus stop so bear in mind. Lovely setting in the middle of fields with the sea in the distance.

Despite being advertised as a hostel with a kitchen, the kitchen only had a frying pan, so we couldn’t cook what we’d brought as we needed a proper pan to boil our eggs. Didn’t feel like a hostel either- the barn communal area was silent. Hardly saw a soul despite being there at peak holiday time. When we arrived there was an older man at reception who couldn’t find the key for ages. We were stood around for ages waiting until he found it. We weren’t told any info- like where to find the wifi password, where the kitchen was, whether to strip sheets for checkout etc. The breakfast is very gacky.

Fantastic set-up with anything you'd need in a Hostel environment. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The only downside was the emergency lighting in the room which meant it was never truly dark.
