ROOM Ijen Hostel

I love the accessibility and the hostel is so new! Breakfast is superb and staffs are super nice✨✨✨✨

Great staff, good english and very helpful, answered all my questions on Whatsapp. Communal kitchen. Lovely breakfast included. Nice outside seating area and roof top. Organized tours, I did Ijen tour which was good. Very clean. Comfy bed. Big lockers. Hot showers!

Extremely noisy from several mosques for many hours a day, wakes you up at night. Better sound proofing is needed.

The roof top terrace is a very nice place to chill out and the staff in the evening was very friendly and helpful. The hostel owner was also very helpful with further transportation.

The location isn't close to most restaurants and cafés and the breakfast wasn't ready on time

The hostel in iself is really cute: first of all for the super cozy balcony, where I loved spending time relaxing. Then the kitchen was well fournished and the rooms were good. Very clean. Good that they provided a service to take us to mount Ijen and gave us a guide to do the hike.

The communication was really difficult, thus was probably due to the fact that there was a woman replacing the actual person who usually works there, who was sick. We were unsure until the last minute about our mount Ijen booking. Also the price of the booking included a mask to protect from the sulphur, and some head torch...both of which were of dangerously bad quality... The showers were poorly entertained: hard to get a good flow and some hot water.. We were supposed to have breakfast included, but first of all I found the timing for breakfast a bit late: from 8am, which in indonesian time means 9... Plus on the second morning we had specifically suggested that we had to have an early breakfast (so at 8am, the soonest they could possibly make). The woman not only was super slow, but she warned us 30min later than 8 that she had no food supplies to cook us breakfast! A bit annoying.. And the breakfast we did get on the first morningwas ok, nothing special as it was suggested on the reviews..

Breakfast was good and the upstairs seating area was really cosy.

Staff was inconsidered: a staffmember was blowdrying his hair at 11:45 PM, they were loudly talking, laughing and talking on the phone on loudspeaker while walking the hallway or while standing very close to the rooms Musty smell in room like there was water damage or something, the wall was all bumpy which makes us think it was water damage that made the room smell bad Bad wifi, No hot water at any time of the day and a lot of noice from the mosque.
