St Clair Hostel

The cost and the building itself was quite interesting.

Noisy. Sirens all night and hot. Not a lot of air movement.

One lady in the reception was nice and helpful.

Overall definitely not satisfied. Very expensive for a hostel. I paid less for Hyatt in nearby Seattle. Bed is squeaky, pillows are thin. The room smelled funny. The toilet was sometimes out of service. Even the hotel entrance makes taking the luggage upstairs a real torture.

The location was very convenient. It was located near train stations along the Waterfront line and walking distance to many restaurants and tourist attractions.

First off, I'd like to preface this with a bit of context. I assume this was why the average price per night was about quadrupled (about $300 CAD per night). We don't follow football at all and we were just returning from a cruise, so we needed a place to crash until our fight the next day. With that said, if the nightly rate was around $70-85 CAD like what Google says, then I would have no complaints since you get what you pay for. The Entrance As you enter the property, you are met with a flight of stairs that lead up to a keypad. If you have heavy luggage, this is inconvenient. After you enter the door code, you have another flight of stairs to walk up to! The Check-In The staff we spoke to just seemed cold and unwelcoming. I'm sure they heard us struggle carrying our luggage up and didn't really offer to help. When we checked in, they gave us the keys, the room number and some towels. Our room was another floor above and guess what - another set of stairs! :-) The Room and Bathrooms The room itself was pretty spacious. The bed, while adequately sized for two, made noise with any movement. The headrest wasn't secured so leaning on it if you wanted to read pushed it back. There was one outlet in the room with two places to plug right by the sink, which was inconveniently located. It was also recessed, so if you have adapters or bigger plugs, it would be a struggle to plug them in. There was also no HVAC in the room, with just one window for ventilation. To add to that, we pigeons were cooing all night. We didn't get much sleep and when we did, we woke up drenched in sweat. The bathrooms smelled like urine and are placed very close to another room. You'd just feel guilty making any sort of noise while you were inside. The Check-Out Our flight was in the afternoon so we had requested for luggage storage. Fortunately the luggage storage was at the reception.

思ったより静か。古いが寝るだけなら十分。出入りがオートロックだが、事前に受話しい説明をメールでもらっていたので安心。

部屋の前に椅子やテーブルを置くのはやめた方がいい。他の宿泊者がそこに居座っていると出入りしずらい。宿泊料はもう少し安くならないものか。

Basic, but clean. The staff were lovely. Laundry facilities were handy between cruises. Iron and ironing board available upon request. Stay for 3 nights total, would stay again.

Could do with a fresh up but more than okay for the price compared to local comps.
