Coffee Shack Adventure Backpackers & Self-Catering

A gem in the wild coast. The spot is perfection and the staff make you feel right at home. Dinners are amazing and they offer day activities of different kinds depending on interests (we did a day hike to Hole in the Wall…Lucky is THE guide!) I believe anyone stopping at coffee shack, whether it be for a day, a week, or a couple months, feels like they will need to come back “home” again one day. Cannot recommend this place enough.

I think that this backpackers was good for the money, with access to some great food and activities if needed. I would recommend this backpackers to anyone wanting to go through Coffee Bay (although, I would recommend other areas along the coast which are much better than Coffee Bay). As a female solo traveler, I felt safe here. Although I booked two nights, I only stayed one, due to feeling uneasy within coffee bay itself (not the hostel). I felt very welcomed by the staff and the place is in a very good location for activities

The location for me wasn't great and I think that coffee bay itself is a little run down, so I moved on the next day. As a female solo traveler and being there in off season, probably wasn't a good combo as I am not sure I got a good feel for the place

We loved the location, beauty all around. Nice that there was wood for a fire.

The hot water in the showers trickles away and becomes non existent. The locals around give a slight unsafe feeling especially if you are in your own car they watch you and pester you.

The people that worked there were lovely, also the atmosphere that they created made you feel at home. We also loved the different activities they organise. Would definitely stay there again! Also the road there was very accessible for a small car, so we would definitely recommend driving to Coffee Shack!

The bathroom was quite far from the room, the hallway of our room also smelled bad and it was a shame that the showers in the women bathroom weren’t working.

Beautiful paradise-like location with very special people working and staying there. Candis was extraordinary by doing beautiful yoga sessions in her studio facing the ocean and unforgettable sundowners up on the green hills with grazing cows and horses on. CK is the best chef in town and all the girls at reception are extremely helpful and fun to talk to and laugh with. For the first time during my Africa trip I felt truly at home and perfectly safe. I should have extended my 5 days and if I ever return to South Africa then because of this place at Coffee Bay 🤗

Some offered tours started only later in the day when the sun was high up in the sky and too hot to make the hike enjoyable or have good light for picture taking.

Perfekte Lage, direkt am Meer und am ‚wilden Strand,. Wir hatten eine Hütte gebucht mit Gemeinschaftsbadezimmer-diese erreicht man, wenn man entweder zu Fuß über einen kleinen Zufluss aus/in dem/das Meer geht oder aber mit dem Auto hin und her fährt. Das Bad und die Hütte waren sauber und Backpacker-mäßig dezent aber nett ausgestattet. Super war die Community vor Ort (andere Gäste und Volunteers)- gemeinsames Essen und Zusammensitzen machten den Aufenthalt wirklich zu einem schönen Erlebnis. Das Essen ist wirklich wunderbar-ein Gericht für Dinner (vegetarisch oder Fleisch) und tolles Frühstück! Wir mochten die vielen Hunde (von vor Ort bzw. die streunenden). Zudem machten wir die super Wanderung zum Hole in the Wall alleine ohne Guide-wurden dann gegen Bezahlung aber netterweise abgeholt und zurückgebracht. Hat super funktioniert! Alles in Allem hervorragend!

Es war definitiv ein Abenteuer. Die Gegend ist faszinierend und es ist gut. Dass es diese Unterkunft gibt. Trotzdem muss man sich darauf einlassen.
