Coffee Shack Adventure Backpackers & Self-Catering

The views and area are so beautiful. We could also see the dolphins passing by from our terrace.

We booked a self-catering house, which is about 2 minutes by car from Coffee Shack, or you could walk to it if it's low tide. However, on our arrival, we were told that in the house, we will not have any wifi but have to go to their reception. Although we had our own data, we didn't even have any signal/reception. While we were there we experienced a 2-day power cut with no generators at all. We were given a small and very dim lamp to use but couldn't even charge our mobiles. Although the King's House we had, do have a kitchen, however it's very very old and basic that we didn't even try to use it. Water heater is solar and was not enough for our family of four. People there are all asking for money; we couldn't even stay in our terrace as many were coming from over the fence to ask for money or sell us bracelets.

The staff is suuper warm and kind. The location is amazing and if you’re driving through South Africa a stop here is NECESSARY

Very friendly staff and clean ablutions, unexpected welcome drinks and free dinner (Sunday nights only). The visit to the Hole in the Wall was awesome and breathtakingly beautiful, especially walking downhill and under the tree canopy to the beach. This made the trip worthwhile.

The road to get there... we travelled by day and was warned about the conditions, but didn't expect it to be that bad... potholes and animals (cattle, goats and sheep) on the road made travel unsafe and very stressful and put a damper on our visit... one would expect that access to such a beautiful landmark would be top priority, especially as people in the area are very poor and over 75% without work, therefore in need of the tourism income.

I liked the close proximity to the beach, the staff was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back for more.

The rooms would do with their own coffee and maybe a microwave. It's not nice having to get out at night or very early in the morning for coffee.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Laid back and relaxing atmosphere. Lots of activities organized by the hostel. I did a great walk to the hole in the wall.

I did not know much about Coffee Bay and thought it was a small town but is actually very rural. Make sure you have sufficient petrol as there are no petrol stations nearby.
