Waitomo Homestead Cabins

Staff friendly.

*On behalf of the person staying - Internet doesn't work in the rooms or the homestead (only usable outside in the rain). No mattress protectors. Roof tiles loose. External bathrooms. No towels provided. Dinner or breakfast not available outside working hours. Constant road noise all night. Massively overpriced for what you get.

It was really cold weather and I liked that the cabin and villa were warm.

It was really rainy and I didn't feel that the complex design was well thought out. I couldn't park near my cabin which wasn't great and we had to walk through rocks and garden to get to our cabins in the rain. As we were carrying suitcases - this was hard work. It felt like the budget for concrete paving might have run out? Although on the whole, the night lighting was good - there were still some areas where there wasn't any - again just where the rocks/garden were so moving around at night was tricky. Is someone going to give that poor big apple a clean some time? I had difficulty locking the door of cabin as well. I know it doesn't sound like it, but we did have a good night and we all slept well.

Bed was comfy and heater in the room to keep warm

3 people in reception all ignored us when we arrived. Too busy having a conversation, we were then confused and had to wander around to get attention. Took over 15 minutes to get checked in. Showers were cold in the morning, we think as we were the only people there someone forgot to put the hot water on. There was also only pies available in the restaurant. Place was deserted. Cold and no hot showers. Really disappointed.

Cabin was still dirty from the last tenants plates and cutlery had not been cleaned properly. Cord on the sliding door blind was broken so I fixed it as it was after hours. By the time I noticed it. Sliding door into the bathroom kept jambing up on screws on the floor causing it to jump off of the quides Had spiders run across the bed during the night

Very quaint cabins. Lovely and warm and comfortable. Perfect for what we needed!
