"Interesting village"

4.0

It was in an interesting pilgrimage village Set in very old buildings Lots of little salons to relax

There is no ensuite and you have to share the bathrooms When your room is next to one sitting area it is quite noisy and you hear the people chatting until the early hours It was quite pricey for just a room and a bed even with the breakfast included

"We were on pilgrimage, not a holiday, so we were not applying holiday standards"

The heating was not on and the weather was cold. So we both got ill.

"An experience to be remembered"

8.0

This is not a location for a pampering holiday but the overall atmosphere of the site was thought provoking. In addition, evening strolls in the village steeped in history were amazing. This was certainly a stay which we will treasure as an experience.

Again - different standards, as a vegetarian I would have wished for a more 'continental' approach to breakfast.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham actually consists of various accomodation houses spread around the grounds of the Shrine Church. The Refectory provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for residents sleeping in the Shrine bedrooms. The village of Walsingham is interesting to explore. It is known as England's Nazareth on account of both the Anglican and Catholic Shrines. Walsingham can be reached by both car and public transport. Even buses come to Walsingham on Sundays!
