UB Guesthouse & Tours - not for locals

The owner is so incredibly helpful and kind. The cutest kitchen and good very helpful staff! Free tea and coffee was very good too!

Only 1 shower was a bit annoying and no social common space, and the rooms have a lot of furniture so feel quite cramped

Considering room rate, the guesthouse is cost efficient. However, the tour service facilitated by this UB Guesthouse is rather expensive. The price range is O.K., but the quality of facility and service is very low, local. For instance, considering the price level, facility quality, and actual price on site, the commission fee is more than half. I assume 60-70%. I haven't heard of more than 50% commission fee. For example, you can get a local camp geir at USD 30-40/night regardless of the number of participants up to 4 persons, but I paid USD 100 for 2 persons. I changed it to another traveler's camp at the same price level. In this case, I calculated 30% commission fee and tried to fill up the payment additionally to meet the 30% after returning to the Guesthouse. The owner argued I have to pay more, so I had to convince her. Based on my dialogues with other camps around, you can get more price deal if you are Mongolians. However, this is not considered in my calculation. So, you cannot expect decent quality of facility or service at the offered price level. So, you need to upgrade the facility or service if you expect traveler's standard, not local. Otherwise, you need to clarify or confirm the details of the facilities, such as restroom, shower facility, food, size of bed, etc. If you truly would like to enjoy local standard with very smelly toilet, shits around in the toilet, and no tap or show facility, etc., you can ignore my comments and go for the service at the offered price.

ホストのボビーがとても親切で頼りになる。色々とツアーを紹介してくれ、こちらの希望もきいてくれる。また熱心にツアーメイトを募ってくれるので、安い料金で参加できる。 実際にこの宿でそれぞれ6日間のゴビ砂漠とタイガへのツアーに参加したが、両ツアーとも何不自由なく、モンゴルの大自然を満喫できた。 他にも地方への長距離バスの予約をしてくれたり、宿を紹介してくれたりと、色々と助けてもらった。 モンゴルは個人旅行が難しい国なので、その点この宿はとてもおすすめです。 勿論立地や設備もとてもよく、ウランバートルでの滞在も便利に楽しめます。
