BIG K HOSTEL

We had a Deluxe Queen Room. The bed was very comfortable with a nice view. It was clean and had a nice character. The bathroom is ok. The breakfast is adequate and the staff are so friendly and kind. They immediately gave us a refund because we left a day early and were responsive with queries. Overall Big K has a really good vibe and is mostly nicely designed and decorated. The WiFi is excellent, I worked a little and had no issues. There is one beach in walking distance and town centre is 20 mins.

The deluxe queen rooms are a little smaller than I’d imagined, and right under the rooftop hangout, so if people are up there late at night or early morning it sounds like stomping on your head. Also the mosque is super-loud (we mostly live on Java and mosques are part of life here, but since moving accom on the island we realise this one was extra-close). Basically, as the name implies, Big K is a backpackers hostel. When there’s 20+ young people in a place together, they’re going to party no matter what the staff say. If you want to party or you can sleep through anything then Big K is an excellent budget option as you will meet lovely people and the room was comfortable. If not you’ll want to up your budget or go further out from the centre of town. Be aware that no matter where you stay on Karimunjawa you can’t really avoid motorbike hire.

The location, breakfast, bed, staff, and room were all excellent.

The staff should keep the beds for a group in a side (closely) to prevent any conflict with other group if it is possible. The room had many empty bed at that time. Putting almost all of our members above another group's bed was so annoying because they complained to us when we were going down from our bed. Frankly, we were left puzzled by the nature of the complaint, it almost seemed as if they expected us to possess the ability to fly while descending from our beds.

Lovely staff, you can easily arrange trips or rent a bike from there. Comfortable beds. Breakfast is varied and some days it is really good. Really great place for groups or to meet people. Affordable.

Rooms are not actually private, you are separated from others by a curtain (maybe that info is available somewhere, I didn't see it and it was thus disappointing due to lack of privacy when double room was not really a room). Restaurant can be a bit of a hit and miss (Bolognese is lovely, Carbonara is tasteless)

The room as well as the facilities were very beautiful. The staff was very kind and the location was great when you had a scooter!

The staff was really nice and everything looked clean and pretty.

Walking towards places was a bit far. But I highly recommend renting scooters to drive around.
