Everything at Hostel Yui An is so perfect! We've stayed in all kinds of places on our trip to Japan and this one has been the best by far. It's utterly beautiful, hand crafted, perfectly curated, special, calming, comfortable and with the most wonderful view across the mountains. Rey is the loveliest host and I just cannot recommend it highly enough. Book NOW!

Nothing. Literally nothing!

The view from the deck is stunning. Sunset was gorgeous! I enjoyed the conversations with Rey and Hiro as well as the chef whose name I can't remember. Hiro and Rey have created a beautiful space in an old farmhouse. So quiet and peaceful. Hiro picked us up for free from the Nagiso Station. We paid for dinner and breakfast. Both were delicious-- chicken curry with rice from local farmers. Breakfast with homemade apple plum jam. The music was calming. Beds were cozy. Easy to walk the Nakasendo trail from here. Would love to see the fireplace lit during the winter. Must be so cozy.

The room could be aired out a bit. But besides that it was an incredible stay!

Beautiful space. The kindest hosts. I wish we had arrived earlier to spend more time enjoying the environment. The veggie curry dinner was delicious.

This hostel is stylish and charming and has everything we needed. The staff were efficient and very amenable. The photos online don’t do it justice. It is a lovely place. It is situated on the Nakasendo Way as it leaves Nagiso heading for Nojiri. We were picked up at the station and the drive saves us some climbing and a few kilometres walking.

What a great find! A very sweet place run by a sweet family. It was another 2 hours walk beyond Tsumago (we walked from Magome) so this was in all a 16km walk for us but we made it there, reaching at 4.45pm having started at 10.30am, very slowly with a Tsumago lunch stop. The place is quite remote but that was the beauty of it. The staff who checked us in was super friendly and provided all the information we needed for our next day's walk. Our particular room was on the ground floor with own shower room but the toilets are in common area. The common areas are spacious and tastefully furnished. Meals are at a bar counter. We ordered sausages (they were out of this world) and a beer, to tide us to dinner which was at 7pm. Dinner was simple but tasty. There was another couple staying that night so we had a nice chat about our travels, together with the host. Place looks better than photos. Gorgeous view at the common deck. Breakfast is simple but all one needs before a continuing walk (we headed to Nagiso (12km) for the train to Kiso-Fukushima. Started walk at 10am at check out and made it in good time for ramen lunch few mins from train station which is very small, no food, & train at 2.52pm). Place is super clean. Nothing to worry.

Although the staff were polite we disliked being treated, not like guests, but like pupils.
