GBCute mountain ryokan with very kind and friendly staff. Had such a special time staying here and want to go back asap. The homemade plum wine is amazing and they have lots of great local sakes. They offer pickup and drop off from the local station which is very helpful given the location is quite remote. They have a soaking tub available for 400¥ per hour.

USWe loved the view, the old building, the hosts, and everything about the property. The old house is so gorgeous. Dinner was delicious, and the sake flights were fun. The wooden bath was so nice to soak in after two long days of hiking. We enjoyed talking with the hostess who helped us plan a different hike since there was a detour on the one we we were going to so. We left directly from the hotel and started our hike the next morning via the Yogawamichi Path. It was a fantastic hike to Nojiri, just be cautious of the limited train times. It was by far our favorite stay in Japan! While this stay was a little more expensive than some other options, it was well worth it!
NZWe had the best night at Hostel Yui-an. It's a family owned and run hostel. It had such a calm, relaxing vibe and the loveliest staff. Dinner was very tasty! It also has a brilliant view from the balcony. I would recommend this to anyone. We spent a night while walking the nakasendo trail, it was perfect for us.

USWow!! Staying here felt like a dream. Such a beautifully designed space, incredible hospitality (and fun sake tasting) shown to us by Erica, delicious home cooked dinner and breakfast, and just a privilege to stay in such a historic and comfortable space. Wish we had multiple nights! Easy pickup/drop off options from Nagiso Station. If you’re one of the lucky few that get to stay here (<10 people per night), do it!!
