USIt was beautiful, historic, and very well run. The staff was incredibly friendly and spoke amazing English. It was so enjoyable to be able to interact with the staff and the other guests staying at the hostel. The food and drink was also delicious.
USThe house is spacious and meticulously decorated with an eye to style, charm, and a quirkiness that was utterly delightful. You have access to a guests' kitchen, a library, a seating area, and a dining area, as well as a small patio with a view of the valley. Just gorgeous.

USEvery step taken on the Nakasendo trail was worth it just to arrive to this magnificent place. It’s way more than a hostel, or bed and breakfast. It’s real, deep Japan. No crowds, no tourists, no nothing except a detailed place and the most attentive staff. Erica was simply the best and she so deserves a raise! Take the bigger room with private shower (not private toilet) if you can. I can pee where others pee but can take a shower where others possibly pee. Great dinner and more than sufficient breakfast to get you going. The highlight of our trip to Japan!

USThis is an incredibly enchanting place. It’s a 200 year-old farm house that has been lovingly restored. Yui-an is perched up in the misty mountains and offers a stunning view. My husband and I sat out on the back porch and tasted 5 sakes for 500 yen. The curries were delicious and the owner, Hiro, and his staff could not be more welcoming. I will dream of this sweet spot when I return home.
