Hostel Yui-an

Beautiful property & very unique house. We were collected from Nagiso Station & driven to the house. Erica was our wonderful host & is a real asset to this special place. Delicious dinner, sake tasting & good breakfast. We walked out the door straight onto the Nakasendo Trail.

Not a big deal, but there is a (lovely) cat that resulted in some allergies for us.

The house is a stunning renovated japanese house and the staff was extremely welcoming and easy to talk to. It is located along the nakasendo trail, so it is perfect for people who plan on hiking the Nenoue pass! But they also offer pick-up from nearby stations. They also serve food and drink at their own restaurant, which were really affordable and extremely delicious. I would honestly just want to stay here for a couple of days and enjoy slow life in the mountains.

This was an AMAZING experience! The hosts were so kind and also gave us our space. The home cooked meal was delicious. The house and setting are absolutely beautiful. The bed was comfortable and warm. The bathing facilities were up to a high standard. We will be coming back to stay again in this serene slice of heaven! If you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful, calm space that feels like home, stay here!.

It made me nervous when they asked me to scan my passport but I found out that everywhere in Japan does this. There was nothing about this stay I did not like.

the house is a bit far away from Nagiso station and their transport possibility is a bit rigid. So unless you time it really well, the most probable is you end up having to pay a taxi from the station to the accomodation.

Séjour exceptionnel dans cette vielle maison rénovée avec goût. Le personnel adorable et très serviable. Dîner et service fantastique. Pour les randonneurs, nous avons été recommandés d’approcher le Nakasendo par la montagne, ce qui a été une de nos plus belles balades enneigée (à compter 4h jusqu’à Nojiri).

Beautiful stay with a wonderful ambience and very hospitable staff, mainly the kind lady who served us dinner and answered any and all questions we had about Japan etc.. Felt incredibly peaceful, authentic and separated from the noise associated with japans major cities.

My only qualm is having to pay for extra amenities like dinner/breakfast (the latter which was very underwhelming) granted you’re already paying quite a lot for the accommodation. That being said, I’d do it again and again if I was promised a similar experience.
