"The worst place I have ever lived in!"

1.0

none

The worst place I have ever lived in!!! 1 - As other comments mentioned, they have hidden charges at the hostel, saying that you have to pay something extra no matter what. One of the charges’ name is 'welcome stamp' in my receipt, which is a card they gave to you with their stamp. I made it clear with the reception that I do not need this stamp. But the reception said ‘You have to get it and pay for it.’ I do not understand the rules and regulations in Germany, but in any other countries in the world, I have never seen any place forcing you to consume something you do not want. 2 - The reception seems only well-trained for fighting against you to accept their extra charges but nothing else. Because the first day when I checked in, I made the full payment (including something I do not need), but the second morning when I checked out, the reception girl said she need to check with her boss whether they would charge me even more!!! It is so strange like 15 hours later, they did not have any information about my payment in their system, and she had to check with the boss!! However, if you mentioned something about their extra charge, they can immediately provide you with their fully well-prepared printed document telling you why you need to pay all the extra. But if those extras are mandatory, why do not you add those charges in your price on Booking directly? Or at least, why do not mention it very clear at the beginning of your description in Booking? 3 - The location is quite far from the city center and the main train station. We have to take a bus from the central station for about 20 minutes and then we need to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the hostel. Sometimes we have to wait for 20 minutes or more for the bus. That is super inconvenience. 4 - The shared bathroom and toilet are scary and dirty because you can find some live and dead spiders and insects on the wall and on the floor, which are very disgusting.

"Superb"

9.0

Staff was friendly and very helpful. There is a large supermarket and a bus station a few minutes away, also 20–30 minutes walk to a beach. The hostel is situated in a calm place,, basically in a forest. Pretty good for the price. I can recommend this place.

There could be more power outlets – some beds don't have any nearby. The locker system could be somewhat better too – early guests may occupy more of them and you might not find an available one in your room if you come later.

"Good"

7.0

The staff was friendly, it was clean.

There was an additional fee for non-members of the local club. Therefore I had to pay significantly more than advertised when booking. There was no kitchen to cook available. Not a very "hostel-like" atmosphere, rather cold.

"Green part of town"

10.0

We liked the hostel - well organized, clean, comfortable room, great brekfast, dog friendly, with lots of possibilities for walk, jogging or cycling... Hostel is some 3 km out of old city center. A bit far to walk, but there is a pulic bus. We came with car and all parking spaces at the hostel were occupied. But there are more public spaces just a 100 m away. Wi-fi worked just at the lobby near the reception, but it worked fine. The employes were kind, informative. As we came with a dog we appretiated forrest with lots of walking-biking trails just behind the hostel. Even the sea coast is not far away.

"Good enough for me"

10.0

Good enough for me, and I am picky! Nice staff, clean rooms, clean sheets, and cheap enough. Breakfast is included in the price, and it has a good buffet, better then many hotels! Somewhat far from the center of the town (about 3 km), but it was not a problem for us, we were driving. Free parking, payed wi-fi (one hour free) So yes, we will come back.

"Not a youth hostel"

6.0

We stayed for one night as two travellers backpacking around Europe. The hostel is nice enough, rooms are very clean, comfy beds, pleasant staff. What seems to be the case with all Hostelling Internationals in Europe though is that they're used a lot as cheap family hotels rather than youth hostels. We couldn't meet any other young people, and as kids tend to wake up early there was shouting in the hallways from some of them at 6am-ish. However, this meant there was a big playground nearby, which is great (includes a flying fox/zipwire)! The Wi-Fi is only free for one hour, and it didn't reach our room on the ground floor (not an issue because of the adventure playground). Check out is also super early, at 9.30am. This was annoying as our train was at 3pm; in our other hostels we've checked out at 12pm. In short: if you are looking for somewhere fairly cheap to take your family on a short break, come here. If you're a youth looking for a hostel to meet other travellers, I'm not sure.
