James John Hamilton House and backpacker hostel

Steve is a lovely friendly host - even made me a cup of tea on arrival and made my dog Bob feel very welcome. Really homely place, perfect as a base before getting the ferry from Fishguard, and easy parking nearby. Really cosy place, would recommend!

Considering value for money, I found this a very good place overall. It’s comfortable, there’s a fully equipped kitchen, complimentary tea, coffee and enough for a light do-it-yourself breakfast. The owner is pleasant and helpful. It’s a very good location, close to shops, good pubs, at least one chippie and other eateries. It’s also minutes away from bus connections (across from the nearby Co-op supermarket) to the ferry terminal and Fishguard's two train stations. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes’ walk is the lower town, still recognizable from the early 1970s film version of Under Milk Wood. A good place all around.

Amazing Host and such a beautiful property. Fantastic Shower and an ultra comfy bed. Our dogs were also so at home in the Room. The town is beautiful and the property is central. A great Cafe & Gallery just a short stroll.

The Hostel was easy to find and walk to from the bus stop. Steve was very friendly on arrival and showed us round and made us a cup of tea. The double room was spacious with plenty of space to move around and hang your clothes. The bathroom and shower unit were exceptional and worked very well. there was plenty of space and comfy seating in the up stairs lounge. The kitchen was clean and tidy with plenty of facilities to make your own meals and plenty of food to help yourself for breakfast and snacks.

Nothing everything was very good

The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There was a selection of breakfast foods and hot drinks and even homemade stew and a carrot cake. The space was really homely and interesting with a large communal lounge / dining / kitchen and just 3 or 4 separate ensuite rooms. It was really excellent value for money and worked perfectly for us walking the coast path pilgrimmage to St David's over 3 days. I would DEFINITELY stay again.

I couldn't fault it. It is not a bland 'luxury' hotel with reproduction art. If that is what you want you'll be dissappointed. Instead it is quirky and cosy.

Plenty of choice offered for a self service breakfast.

All aspects better than I hoped.
