Downtown Hostels Ella

The staff were so kind & helped us to organise taxis, laundry, day trips etc. The hostel is in a great location, right off the Main Street in Ella but still quiet at night. The beds were comfortable & the rooms had plenty of storage. We also did a sunrise hike through the hostel to Ella Rock & our guide who works at the hostel was amazing!

The ladders on the bed were awkward & a bit dangerous. We had one bathroom between 6 people so we sometimes had to wait a while.

There are several activities available at the hostel, like cooking classes, dinners, also a shared Whatsapp group for the guests to plan things together. There's also a shared taxi service to the south that leaves at 9.30 am. Nice views from the terrace. The hostel is not in the main street but in a bit secluded area, so it's quiet too, still being very well located. There's a supermarket right across the street. It was a really good experience.

De locatie was echt perfect! Midden in het centrum, maar heeel rustig gelegen.

Deur om slaapkamer kon niet dicht, dus airco had geen zin, warm, vochtig, heel veel schimmel, geel/bruin water uit alle kranen, wc en douches.

The hostel offers good value for the price. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the female dorm felt tidy and well-maintained. Overall, the sleeping area was comfortable and suitable if you’re mainly looking for a place to rest.

The kitchen area was a major downside. Early in the morning, I saw two large rats coming out of the cabinets and walking over the plates and glasses. The kitchen itself was not clean — there were leftovers on surfaces, open trash bins, dusty plates, and a fridge that was overcrowded and had an unpleasant smell. It didn’t feel hygienic or inviting for cooking or eating.

Love the social ambience as well as its close proximity to the central area. The staff are super helpful and welcoming. Loved their breakfast, too

The fact that there were no towels provided as well aa shampoo, and body wash. It would have been more comfy had they have them. We can just pay more. 😅

Nice staff and nice common lounge. Very large lockers in the room. Nice to have a curtain for some privacy.

My bed was right next to the door, which had a window while the light in the hall was on, so it didn’t get very dark. The room itself does not have a lock, but the big lockers made up for this as I could safely store my entire backpack. Other than that I had a very pleasant stay!
