Vico and his wife are the best hosts I've had during my 6-month trip! They're great to chat with, always within reach and offering help from bookings to trips even in the next destinations. There's a homey, comfortable social atmosphere, delicious also vegetarian food options (for a good price), and great tour deals. I joined their Mt Batur and waterfall trips, both of which were great. As the place isn't that big, it's also peaceful to sleep.

Although Grab is super easy to get, it takes some time and is a bit costly to travel to the central area. But that also provides peace and authenticity:)

This is such a great Homestay! The owners are the most amazing people and the location is very green and quiet which I loved! The tour I organised with them was perfect. Definitely recommend staying here and I hope to be back soon!

It’s a really chill atmosphere thanks to a fair distance to the busy city centre, the beautiful neighbourhood and Vico’s personality.

You can book tours on their website, but we’re not a fan of them. We booked a package deal that included waking up at midnight for a sunrise two nights in a row — with little time for rest in between. They get there extra early in order to avoid traffic. But the consequence is that you’ll have to spend hours at night in the cold, waiting for a sunrise. Also it wasn’t very clear what to expect. But note that Vico’s always willing to answer any questions. The waterfall tour was very enjoyable tho.

It's a bit far from the center, so it can be a hassle to move around although it's not a big deal. The neighbor's rooster constantly crows from very early in the morning, disrupting sleep. Maybe they should leave the doors of the property closed in the early hours, as they sneak into the property to eat and thus get louder.

This has been a true highlight of the last few months travelling. They have been extremely helpful in helping me get a tour of Bromo, Ijen and Tumpak Sewu waterfall in the time I had available, contact multiple hostels and companies to ensure it would work. They have also set up picks ups and drop offs in Ijen so no effort is required, leaving you to enjoy the trip! The homestay itself is in a perfect location, away from the house of the centre to ensure you have a restful stay whilst also being close enough to the city to easily access it through Grab or bike hire (they have several suggestions for you). Rooms are clean with private beds (curtains), with free tea and coffee available. There is a hot shower and toilet which are both clean. Food offered is also delicious, with fresh fruit grown in their garden offered with each meal. It’s an extremely welcoming environment and they are wonderful people to talk to and learn about Java and Indonesia itself. I can’t recommend this homestay enough, a wonderful experience- thank you again!
