Shiv Shakti Hostel

Very accessible to Laxman Jhula and the street is full of awesome cafes and shopping joints. Everything is easily accessible on foot. You can even cross the Laxman Jhula on foot and access Tapovan area, and reach The Beatles Cafe. The double room I booked was decent with all the basic facilities required, like Air conditioning, table, balcony etc. There was a great space on the terrace for guests to meet up and Jam

The pillows were dirty and had mould on it. The pictures could be deceiving, the actual place is pretty normal.

The room was not clean at all; it was extremely dirty, and there were cockroaches roaming inside. I requested a bedsheet change twice on the same day, but all the bedsheets provided were dirty. After changing the bedsheet, the staff even threw the used dirty one inside the same room. Due to this unhygienic condition, I decided to book a new room elsewhere. I informed them to cancel my booking as I had only just made the payment, but they refused to process a refund. As a result, I left the matter and made a new booking at another place.

I did not like anything about this hostel. The bathrooms and washrooms were very unhygienic, and the beds were uncomfortable and poorly maintained. The bedsheets were dirty and not changed even after requesting. The staff was unorganized and didn’t seem aware of the bookings. They were not attentive or helpful at all. Overall, it was a bad experience, and I don’t think this hostel is worth the money. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

I stayed at Shiv Shakti Hostel in Rishikesh for 2 days, and it was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. When I arrived on Friday around 1 PM, I paid Rs 300 for a bed. But the bed was full of bedbugs and insects, and the bedsheet was dirty. As soon as I lay down, I got itching and bites all over my body. I complained to the staff and asked them to change the bedsheet, but they didn’t do anything. I couldn’t sleep the whole night and had to sleep in the reception area instead. In the morning, when I asked for a refund or adjustment, they refused and took the full amount. The staff was rude and unprofessional. On the second day, they kept changing my room again and again for no reason. Overall, it was a horrible experience. I don’t recommend anyone—Indian or foreigner—to stay in this hostel. They scammed me and provided dirty, bedbug-filled beds. Please avoid this place.
