Hostal La Isla

I've booked one night and ended up staying two weeks. The hostel has an incredible atmosphere and the people there are great. I wish I hadn't had to leave.

-Staff gave some good travel advice -the price is cheap. (however if you're someone who enjoys some space or silence after a long day and a good shower, I would either recommend paying a bit more for somewhere else, or just find a different hostel for same price range). I found a much better hostel for the same price which is where I spent the rest of my time in San Cristóbal. -If you are simply a traveler just looking to meet people and hang out with others and you need somewhere cheap and you don't care about much , then this place is for you.

- everything just seems dirty. Felt itchy in the bed. Don't know how often they wash the woollen blankets because they just put a sheet in between. When I was checking out I moved the sheet on my bed to make sure I hadn't left anything behind, and I didn't realise before but there were really disgusting stains all over the bedsheets which they try to hide with another one on top. Guys, just throw the sheet away if it looks like that. -shower facilities very poor, very old, water pressure non-existent so it will take you 5x as long to shower properly -only 1 shower + toilet shared between lots of people on a whole floor. It's simply not enough and makes it more messy and dirty. -beds are SO squeeky, with every little movement. If you turn or move your leg everything shakes. Not good considering it's bunk beds. Keep everyone awake any time someone moves in their sleep. -no curtains across the beds so there is zero privacy, and no way to block out light in the room, other guests can stay up very late and they leave the light on their side of the room on. -rooms very cramped with the beds, it's just too many people to share a space that size. -no personal light/mini lamp on each bed -hang out area directly outside rooms which makes everything very loud because people stay up late, play music, watch films on their phones loud, play guitar, sing, etc. Walls very thin. You can hear everything and everyone from the hang out area on the floor below too. - no hooks by the beds or in the rooms -upon arrival (I arrived around 9am), I was told I can't have any of the breakfast (which was just some fruit and chia) because it's the first day before check-in time. After a 14hr journey it would of been nice. Considering I'm paying for the whole stay regardless, I don't think offering some small pieces of chopped fruit would of damaged the business in any way, it's just a nice gesture.

Amazing staff, good located close to the center, relaxed atmospheres and an amazing vibe. Good yogaclasses and breakfast included. Just felt like home and I'm coming back for sure!

Amazing location, right in the center of town close to everything. Very cozy, artsy place, with calm friendly vibe. The staff is great, it immediately felt like a family. Loved it so much that I extended my stay for another week.

The place is cozy and the people very nice. The breakfast is yummy and the yoga lessons a plus!
