Great stay, great people. Build is a bit older, but definitely clean. Grate gateway to Golden Bay. Takaka is also a nice place.

Rooms where messy and smoking people in the room made the room smell horrible.

I liked the atmosphere at the hostel. It was quite nice.

The owners could brush up on customer service skills. Also maintenance - particularly in regards to safety needs to be better. Clients should not have to report about wobbly chairs because those things should be checked. The worst feature for me - I had my own plywood room outside. It's windows did not shut properly and the door was not hanging properly. There was a gap at the top and bottom and the door was on an angle. The door wasn"t easy to open or close little own lock and unlock and was sticking at the frame - depending on time of day of course. Plywood expands and contracts quickly. Also found wobbly chair in the dining area.
