I had a very warm and memorable stay at Rata. A few days before check-in, Vikki had already messaged me with very thoughtful advice about preparing for the trip, including buying food before heading into the mountains and other useful things to know. When I arrived, Vikki and Gerard gave me a very warm welcome, explained everything about the house clearly, and made sure I felt comfortable straight away. They also asked about my plan for the next day, and as soon as I told them, they kindly checked the weather for me. What stood out most was how genuinely caring they were. One evening I returned quite late, and they were clearly concerned and relieved to see I was back safe. They checked whether I had eaten, told me I was welcome to use the kitchen, and made sure I had extra blankets in case the night got cold. The next morning they were still checking in to make sure everything was alright. When I left, they also gave me helpful advice about the best direction to drive for my onward journey. This was much more than just a place to stay — it felt personal, kind, and heartfelt. I really appreciated their hospitality and would happily stay again.

Exceptionally friendly and welcoming hosts and impeccably clean lodge. Stayed in a functional room with a private bathroom and patio. Fresh mountain water from the tap and a scenic short walking loop behind the property Easy parking and comfortable beds. Retro TV and lodge has a great selection of classic movies. Well-equipped kitchen (appeared suitable for cooking full meals). Cozy, relaxing atmosphere in a mountain setting. Reliable Wi-Fi and excellent room lighting.

Shower controls were a bit sensitive and took some adjustment & limited amenities in the surrounding area. Ideal for a quiet stay, with everything needed on-site despite the remote location. I would definitely stay again.
