Gulsara hostel

We expierenced Oezbeks hospitality in the centre of Samarkand. The owner was really friendly, even welcomed us with tea. She was really flexible and gave us the rooms which fitted the best for our family for the same price.

The kitchen was a little old to western standards but they are working on the renovation.

Very close to all the top attractions. The owner was very kind.We reached the property at 8AM, and though our checkin was at 12PM, she allowed us early check-in, which helped us a lot. Truly value for money, and the location is just perfect.

Place is near to places to visit in Samarkand.

Totally agree with Paola but unfortunately I only get to read the review after the nightmare. Misleading information on the room descriptions. I booked the same room (the most expensive in the property with included extras). Even so we (my parents and I) did not complain that the room did not meet the criteria of the descriptions because we are not fussy or ungrateful as the owner claim us to be. Booking.com already included the taxes & charges but I was still charged with tourism fee (didn’t have this issue with the hotel in Tashkent). Early check in, late check out and one way airport transfer were included in the extras but then the owner said we can only choose either one for early check in/late check out (again on misleading information). I was trying to say that she should put correct information in the first place (I’ve checked that she made changes in booking already after our argument) but when I encountered her before she kept insisting that she didn’t write any of the extras or room descriptions as she didn’t want to admit her mistakes and kept on blaming me and booking.com (just like how she replied to other reviews). I even asked about the included extras (which are supposedly included in the price) before the booking confirmation but she only answered it after the booking was confirmed. On our last day, I asked for airport transfer as included in the extras but she said she will only call for the taxi but I need to pay it. Well I can call for Yandex taxi myself and the fare is not that much but I hate that I feel cheated with all of the misleading informations (payment, room descriptions and extras). We had a hard time communicating as she cannot speak English very well.

The property near Registan Square is super convenient for traveling. Lola, the owner, is just the sweetest person ever! She went out of her way to make sure we were cozy during our stay at the hotel. And if we needed anything, she made sure all our needs were taken care of.

Excellent Location!!! The Registan square and all major attractions are nearby. A very nice bar cum restaurant is just at the gate selling kebabs samsa and plov. Very helpful host. The host is very welcoming.

Needs work and maintenance. The hostel doesn’t seems to be in properly equipped shape. It needs lot of work and maintenance. It could turn out to be an excellent hostel in Samarkand.

Great location and a fantastic breakfast. Bathrooms were clean, hospitable host. Lovely!

Lola was fantastic. She was helpful and kind, the breakfast was an authentic uzbek experience. The location of the property is great. It is 4 mins walking distance to registan square. Prime location and easy to find. Right outside the hostel there are a lot of authentic uzbek restaurants.

There were areas in the property that still required some maintenance work due to wear and tear.
