City View Hostel

There is no air temperature control except a fan in the upper corner of the room, which only blows on one of the bunk beds. It gets extremely warm in the rooms during the day so the room is unbearably hot when you go to bed. There are no screens on the windows so when you open them to try and get some fresh air, you’re eaten by mosquitoes. It’s located right on one of the main streets in the city so the noise at night is also loud even with earplugs in. Inhardly got a wink of sleep here. I had booked 2 nights but left after the first.

Tidy, helpful, informative, calm host. I felt safe and you get the basic of what you pay for, no frills.

Maybe don’t show how dirty the mattresses actually are 😅

Manoj was lovely and extremely helpful. The location is very central in the heart of all the shops and restaurants and also walking distance to bus and train station. Great value, I'll be back when I'm next in Kandy

One fan for the whole room so need to keep the windows open to circulate the air and it can get noisy

It is in a very convenient location, perfect for anyone catching a bus or a train. The rooms are spacious, there are lockers with keys provided and a few universal sockets around the room. The host is accommodating.

The room gets very noisy as the windows have to stay open during the night, there is only a single fan that is not sufficient for the room. There isn't a communal space to hang out in and meet people.

The owner Manoj is super helpful. He is very knowledgeable and has great information on how n where to travel in Kandy. He even has info on various hikes around Kandy and can organize trips as well. The property is right in the middle of the city, walkable to all the major landmarks.

The restrooms are on a separate floor which can become inconvenient at times. Shower and toilet is combined in a very cramped box. Also being located on a very busy road, it can become way too noisy! For light sleepers, this can be a huge problem.
