Castaway Hostel

At Castaway it's like a family. I made good friends there and the staff is very kind. I loved the free dinner on Friday it's good local food and a good way to meet the people that are staying here.

The hostel manager laughs loudly and constantly, and the music is too loud. It’s tough to get any rest after a long day. Don’t expect an amazing experience here.

Nice place, bad stay for us and bad management decisions.

Bad experience doesn't mean a bad place, but after the hostel kindly sent a "no show" to booking, customer service brought us back, here we go :) We spent two nights in a shared bedroom. Unfortunately the "room draw" lead us to a "long stay" guest room. A guy that seems to be living there, was extremely sick and didn't care about others (surprise!). The first night we didn't have any rest because of his constant coughing, leaving doors open, smoking at the door, etc, but we let it pass. The second night we can add alcohol to the combo. He came back around 3am, leaving the door open, speaking loudly, coughing, spitting. We couldn't sleep at all and we left the room around 5. A basic traveler advice, if you are sick, don't get into a shared room. We have been traveling for more than 7 years, and we totally understand that the property can not do much, but they shouldn't stay quiet to this kind of behavior. Authenticall apology could be enough, but the "no show" changed our opinion. There are basic rules that need to be respected, and when they're not, the hostel must take action, but this didn't happen. They just let this guy(and couple of others) who are basically living there to do whatever they want and that they probably can't do back home. (Check photos and dates so you can see these guys are always there). This is not against party or loud people. We were totally fine with all around, we chilled and spoke with other guests, but no sleeping time for us, a bad management decisions towards us as guest and the no show on top of that made this stay a bad experience for us and gives this place a 1.

I’ve stayed here both times I’ve visited Bali and will continue to come back! My fave hostel ever, vibes are amazing everyone is super chill and up for a good party but the best part about this place are the staff. Queen is an absolute icon and Yanta, Ayo and Adi make sure everyone is looked after and make you feel part of the family. Loveeee this place <3

Super friendly staff that clean rooms everyday and change sheets regularly. Nice place to hangout with pool table. Really affordable and the location is fantastic
