Sport Resort Fiesch - Fiescher Hostel

Clean. Nice location, just a few minutes from the train station. Good value for the price. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Recycling bins for PET and aluminium on the floor — very convenient and environmentally friendly.

Hot food option for breakfast

The Sport Resort Fiesch is a huge resort for large groups and individuals with over a thousand beds. It was quiet when we were there in mid July. The check in location was not obvious. From the stop-on-demand Feriendorf train station, walk to the right up the hill. See the sign that says check in/ check out. There is NO check in there. Look left to see the blue sign with the "i" to find the reception. Our private room with bath was modern and looked new. There was no view or balcony. Food was fine at the cafeteria, CHF 19 for lunch or dinner. You must get a voucher first at the reception. The reception has local information and maps. The staff are friendly. There is a shortcut to walk into Fiesch to the station and gondola. It passes by a COOP that is closed on Sundays. There is a COOP Pronto at a gas station below the Feriendorf station. Take the tunnel under the tracks and turn right on a dead end road, then down a grassy hill on a short cut. It sells fewer things, but is open late and on Sundays. We highly recommend the two hour, one way hike to Platta viewpoint of the Aletsch glacier. From the Fiescheralp gondola, follow the hiking signs to Gletscherstube Märjelen via the tunnel. Just before the Gletscherstube Märjelen, turn left on the easy 20 minute hike to Platta.

If you come during the Swiss school year, there could be many school groups.

The location is okay, lots of facilities, sauna (extra cost) was nice, breakfast was alright
