Location excellent. Francis excellent. Great value for money. Kitchen / lounge very good.

Unfortunately due to our age and health, struggled with the stairs a little.

I like the handy location to the Intercity bus. It is very homely and cozy. Room 6 is very spacious and has adequate space for putting up clothes. Fran is very hospitable. It is great value.

Proximity to town, sea, old 0amaru, quiet, clean, good facilities in kitchen

I have been living, working, and traveling around New Zealand for the past few months, and this is the only accommodation I have stayed at that I would not stay in again. I experienced the following issues: 1. The booking.com listing was misleading at the time of my stay, the laundry services are listed without an extra charge and yet the property manager charged me $10 for doing a load of laundry. 2. There is a $10 charge to leave bags before or after check in. This is not in line with other accommodation sites in NZ (or even others in Oamaru), this is a free service everywhere else I know of. 3. This flat is located near a train station and I was woken up in the middle of the night by the train’s whistle. For context, I sleep very deeply. 4. The property manager was rude in every interaction I had with her, even when I called on the day that I was to check in to let her know that I hadn’t received my check in instructions yet and to enquire about leaving my luggage before/after check in—surely very normal things to ask about. I don’t usually leave public negative reviews, I prefer to praise in public and (if needed) criticize in private. However, the property manager was dismissive when I raised the point about the misleading booking.com listing with her, and I also experienced more issues at this accommodation site than any other I have ever stayed at. For these reasons I wanted to provide a description of the facts of my stay at Coastal Accommodation to help future travelers make an informed decision about whether or not to stay here. I would advise against it, there is plenty of other accommodation available in Oamaru.
