The location and friendly manager are a big plus. He provides an excellent summary of local sights linked to location on Google maps. I can only comment on the dorm, which needed some serious cleaning and maintenance, particularly the bathroom. There's no window, but you can go upstairs to a small seating area for that view that is mentioned in other comments.

There is, in fact, hot water, but you need someone to turn on the main switch and wait quite a while for the tank to heat. The dorm main door is hanging on its hinges and must be lifted up to enter the room. This is just another maintenance issue.

I had a view of historic temples. The staff is super accommodating and let me choose my room with a free upgrade. I was contacted by WhatsApp by a staff member to give me suggestions for sites and information. I forgot a camera part and the staff drove it to me by motor bike after I left! I felt as if they really cared about guests and the maintenance of the property. It was literally centrally located in the quaint town of Orchha. You can experience authentic town life among the locals walking on their roof tops. The children in the area are all smiles and greetings. I hadn't experienced true genuine Indian hospitality until I stayed here , and that includes 4 star hotels in Mumbai. Most hotel staff just dont get it Sunset Hotel excels in service! Felt like a homestay and i was sad when leaving.

The only issue was low water pressure in my room which the staff told me they were in the process of fixing. They offered me other rooms, but I didn't care, I just filled the bucket and bathed native style. And you can't get that view anywhere so it was a small price to pay. . The other small issue were these small bugs which are everywhere in Orchha. they hang around the lights but it's like a camping experience. They are like fruit flies. Nothing the hotel could do, but I am certain if you mentioned any issue the staff would immediately fix it.

Good location, close to everything. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I found the dorm to be very hot (November) and no ventilation or fan. I upgraded to a private room which was much better. Dorm is fine if you are on a budget or weather is cool.
