Macondo Hostel

A perfect hostel in the heart of the city. The room was clean and comfortable, the garden is a real pleasure to hang out in, but the place is absolutely made by the amazing staff. I've never been to a hostel with such wonderful staff, always happy to talk, experts in everything the region has to offer and superb in every way. We would not have been able to plan our Camino Real hike without all of their help and expertise. Highly recommend this hostel.

- the hostel owner and the staff are SUPER helpful, they helped me with everything in San Gil and way more!! They are well informed, I never meet so helpful people in a hostel :) - they gave a good overview of the activities you can do - hammocks! :D - highly recommended!

Lots of explanations by owner or staff about hostel, excursions and activities. Very helpfull. Also very nice garden.

No possibility to buy a snack or any food. Just some drinks. The kitchen to prepare your food was very outdated, as was the equipment. For guests there was not really a suitable area to be together with a large group. The "living room" was for maximum 5 people, the seats in the garden were too scattered.

The hostel has a great activity guide & the staff are super helpful with organising the activities. They answered all of my hundred questions! The hostel also has a great social vibe & there’s free coffee!

Property was lovey and set up to be social but not too loud. Most of the staff were absolutely lovely with excellent recommendations on activities and local restaurants, the owner takes great care to recommend the safest and most professional companies for all the local activities!

Absolutely everything was fantastic. The staff was amazing, they gave great recomendations for activites in and around San Gil, you can book things directly through them, each and every one was friendly and helpful. They also organize their activities (we went to play tejo). As far as the hostel, we stayed in a private room, it was clean and spacious, comfortable, just the bed is quite noisy. Truly a 10/10 experience.
