Theppahrak Hostel Khaolak

It's clean, bed is comfy, the host is very nice and helpful. There's coffee and snacks all day.

No curtains on upper beds. People were smoking on the room's balcony which I could smell in the room. Not only cigarettes. Only one bathroom for six beds.

The place was fine, no real complaints. The location is good, near where the big buses drop off passengers. There's a kitchen with a fridge and microwave. The female dorm had only 4 beds, it's small but it didn't feel crowded. There's a 7/11 across the street. You can rent a scooter near the 7/11 as well.

The staff are probably not unkind but they just ignore you. They're not at the hostel very often and you have to phone them for check-in, so it's easier (and cheaper) to get tours, bus tickets, and scooters elsewhere. No privacy curtains on beds. I didn't like Khao Lak, it's a purely tourist village mostly catering to German tourists, and everything is 2 or 3 times more expensive than elsewhere in Thailand.
