The building was amazing, everything was super clean and new. Excellent facilities, welcoming and chilled atmosphere. Really comfy futons. We would have stayed longer if we could! Alrik was a brilliant host, he offered us tips for local hikes and waterfalls.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The place looks/is brand new and beautiful. The room was big and comfortable and the view was really nice. All was very clean and tidy.

Nothing not to like about the hotel or the host.

Private and shared spaces are bright and spacious. The kitchen is perfect for cooking not only breakfast but also dinner.

I love watching the fog coming down from the mountain in the morning, so being able to watch that through the window while having breakfast was the best.

I thought it would’ve be even better with soundproof improvements as I could hear the snoring from upstairs... 😂 it didn’t affect my sleeping at all though!

Everything. The place is lushly appointed, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Just try to get in a little early because it's a small town and everything closes quickly.

The location is difficult to get to, but personally I think that's part of the charm.

I recently stayed at this gem of a guest house situated deep in the Shikoku countryside. I was cycling between Anan and Kochi and was looking for something about halfway between the two cities and I happened upon The Next Chapter. The calm surroundings, the immaculately clean interior and the kind hospitality of Alrik and Tyler made for a great one night stay. Even the elderly neighbour across the road brought me a small, Japanese breakfast when she saw me working on my bike in the morning. I had dinner at the nearby restaurant which was delicious. If you are looking to experience the quiet life in rural Japan, this is the place. The road from Anan to Kochi is also stunning as it hugs the river canyon on the side of the steeply rising slopes. I had perfect weather during the ride and the changing autumn leaves made for a gorgeous ride.
