YHA Borrowdale

Great welcome and kind staff!Good dry room!

Location

You now have to pay to park overnight. Not mentioned in the advert. Hostel,was also being used by a school group who took over the dining area for briefings. Then worse, young girls were getting changed in the public drying room.

Set in a very beautiful spot. Nice pub and super friendly and accommodating staff

The mattress was a little thin - not good for sore hips after a long day of walking. A bit too busy for my taste.

Staff were helpful and created a great atmosphere at the hostel.

The hostel was unique and lovely, as we expected. We were just very disapointed with the price. We were walking the Cumbrian Way and this was by far the most expensive place we stayed. We have used YHA for many years but we now feel we are better supporting local businesses rather than pay over the top prices for a hostel, which I guess many younger people could not afford.

A brilliant holiday with my young family, perfectly located with nice view from the room, and good food on offer, plus option to cook in the guest kitchen.

Rooms and beds were a bit basic, but I recognise that investment would probably affect price / value for money.

Everything was good clean well run with freindly hardworking staff

All the food was excellent. The selection at breakfast was full and tasty. Hiking tge Cumbrian way, made the location spot on, even good for coast to coast, so will be back one day.

Having stayed during a heatwave, we would have appreciated a cooler room, but was too warm, coupled with winter duvets made sleeping a challenge.

Breakfast great. Very little comfortable seating as areas mostly given over to dining tables/chairs which are not comfortable to sit at reading for example. Reception staff lovely but the kitchen staff looked a bit miserable - maybe a bit stressed!
