Hostel Casal São João

Good price Friendly people at hostel Nice view.

Noisey. Quiet neighborhood but people ( staff) playing cards and talking until 2am right outside my window. No a/c so I can't close window. I paid 10 euro cash cleaning fee upon checking in bit he table in my room was sticky so I had to clean it before using it. The place has a rustic and charming feel but the keys to the rooms are so old they are hard to use. The showers and broken on both floors. Manageable. The bed takes up almost the whole room. Great place to eat 10 min walk.

Hostel has cool balcony with great view. Host was really nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable. There were few parking slots on the street. Place has family vibe which is nice. You can meet a lot of cool people.

Roads are quite difficult.

Getting there without a car would be a mess as there are not really good bus services. Kitchen could have been better

The hosts were very nice and inviting. There were three little cats that were very cute. The view was absolutely stunning. There were multiple bathrooms that were kept pretty clean and the kitchen was nice and usable.

The bed was pretty hard and squeaky and we didn't use the comforters because it didn't seem like they had been washed in a long time. My partner liked the bed, so it may just be according to preference!

My least favourite hostel yet. Dirty, smelly, no decent common area to meet other travellers. The owner was friendly but that was about it. Do not recommend.

The photos make it seem a lot nicer than it is.
