"A lot of stress, no good communication. No information"

5.0

I liked forest, good spacious houses.

When we arrived we did not get any information how exactly our houses will be called. So we need to find out ourselves and ask owners. Heater and hot water did not work, so we freeze all night it this houses. We spend all morning when we found how swich on. We text owner about this problem, but we got answer just in middle of day. Shower does not have good pressure, so very hard to shower. To wash long girls hair impossible. Just one toilet paper roll for all stay. Curtains always falling out, so we need to fix it. In one house does not have BBQ and washing machine and in other house does not have dishwasher. So need extra to have with you. Check by owner is 9:30, on booking 10. Did not discuss about it.

Loved that it was secluded! The hot tub was a very nice asset. And the surround area in the Forrest was absolutely stunning.! Beds were comfy!

A little dated inside the lodge. Bathrooms a little old and water pressure for the showers was a little poor.

"Lovely lodge that is adequate and peaceful."

9.0

We stayed in Otters Lodge which overlooked the main pond. It was mostly very peaceful day and night. You could hear wildlife like fish plopping in the lake, wood pigeons and pheasants calling all the time. Adequate space and facilities for 4 people for 7 nights. Bedrooms are pitch black at night without a light on which I appreciated. Having a nightlight for kids room was a good call from owner. Loads of storage in bedrooms. WiFi reception is ad hoc which I appreciated (kids adjusted quickly to this odd way of living!). Good amount of storage in kitchen. We had a robin visit daily so we bought some bird seed which he (we called him Bob) enjoyed! Space between lodges was good although I am a person that would never moan about more space. Location wise, had to navigate 1 car width lanes a few times but, 15 mins to Westward Ho passing a Tescos, an hour to Bude beach... worth the lane traversing. Property was mostly very clean on arrival. We didn't get much sun on the lodge even though temperatures reached high 20s but, it wasn't cold inside. Loved the wooden flooring throughout, nice under foot. Cosy in the late evening with door open on the veranda listening to the quiet.

Property could do with new windows. The wooden windows, especially in the bedrooms were a little moldy and dirty and we had condensation on them each morning so you have to air the rooms daily. Either that or they need a really good clean and often. Some of the curtains were missing hooks but still closed. The door blind had loads of small squished flies all over it. Bathroom door stuck a little. Smell and small signs of damp obvious particularly in the kitchen cupboards and the presence of air freshers in the wardrobes and main bedroom. Parking near lodge was mostly easy for the alloted 4 lodges/cars until last 2 days when new people arrived and didn't get the system. Didn't help that some space was taken up by some building materials. Nothing dries even outside on hot days so maybe a tumble dryer (even if coined) would be helpful as there was room for one - thinking more for beach stuff than clothes here as we often had still damp towels and costumes. A few times there were very loud noises coming from the adjacent farmland quite early in the morning or in the afternoon for a few hours. I'm not sure what it was or how often it happens during the year but, it definitely broke the peacefulness - I know this is out of owners control and hopefully it isn't a weekly occurance.

"Pleasant stay in the woods"

8.0

Very pleasant lodges in a beautiful, peaceful forest location.

A few things didn't work as well as they should - hot tub controls, tv and dvd, wifi, etc.

"Quiet location in Forest"

9.0

Great quiet location. Lodge a bit tired with really poor Internet (O2 has mobile coverage outside). One of the roads into the site is really rough. Quick journey to many beautiful coastal villages and beaches. Hot tub was really good and checked every day. Staff on site excellent and really helpful

"Do not book honeysuckle lodge."

1.0

Trees and wildlife.

Dirty, out dated, poor maintenance, mouldy and musty, in the honeysuckle lodge, played havoc with health conditions, and my husband ended up with concussion after getting out of bed in the night as ceiling beside bed is no taller then 5 foot and headbutted the wall. Neither showers worked properly, poor positioning of hot tub, bins overflowing, did not stay 24 hours. Never again.
