Essque Zalu Zanzibar

The warm welcome from the staff. The pool was under construction for two days of our stay but the hotel arranged with two other hotels to accommodate guests to swim, very appreciative of this. The location was stunningly breathtaking and has by far been my favourite hotel I’ve ever visited. The food was outstanding and varied daily.

Tout , le personnel la nourriture était excellente . Les chefs cuisto sont vraiment compétents. Le personnel était d’une gentille mémorable . Je n’oublierais jamais mon séjour au zalu hotel , vraiment La literie est parfaite , la propreté irréprochable. Je recommande cet établissement

Die Rezeptionisten waren alle sehr freundlich und sehr engagiert. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und hochwertig Ausgestattet.

Leider war der Pool wegen Wartungsarbeiten geschlossen, dass wurde erst kurz vor Anreise kommuniziert, sodass man auch nicht mehr stornieren konnte. Die angebotenen Alternativen (Transport zu zwei anderem Hotels) war zwar nett aber gleicht den Komfort einee eigenen Pools nicht aus. Wir hatten eine sehr unangenehme Situation mit einem Mitarbeiter der die Ausflüge in der Lobby verkauft. Er war extrem aufdringlich und konnte nicht akzeptieren dass wir den Ausflug am Ende nicht gebucht haben.

The Garden View Suite was exceptionally spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The WiFi was also excellent, which was appreciated during our stay. The staff were friendly and professional throughout and the manager did her best to assist when we experienced an issue with hot water. Although the timing meant moving rooms was no longer practical, she kindly arranged access to another room so I could shower after returning from a day of diving. The location at the northern tip of the island is peaceful and the jetty is nice. During low tide it is possible to walk around to the main Nungwi beach area, otherwise it is only a short taxi ride away.

Unfortunately, the property itself is quite different to the luxury of the photos. While the rooms were in good condition, the pool and common areas are tired and in need of major refurbishment and maintenance. We visited during low season in May, which made the resort feel very quiet and somewhat lacking in atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing compared to other properties we stayed at in Zanzibar, particularly the limited selection of fresh local fruit. I wouldn’t discourage people from staying here, but I would suggest arriving with realistic expectations. The resort has great foundations and could be fantastic again with significant investment and renovation.
