Amari Koh Samui

We stayed at the Amari for several days and overall had a really lovely stay. The hotel has many strong points, especially the garden area, the breakfast and the helpful staff. When we arrived in the afternoon, we found welcome drinks waiting for us at check-in. Nobody explained whether they were actually for us, so that felt a little strange and confusing. The drinks were also not very tasty, but that was not a big issue. What surprised us more was that we noticed other arriving guests receiving cold refreshing towels every day, while we never received any. Our first room, however, was unfortunately very disappointing. It was located upstairs on the first floor and felt dark and uncomfortable. The air conditioning barely worked and it was extremely hot inside the room, even on the coldest setting. The balcony was completely unusable because the view was directly facing an ugly building. Overall, the room and balcony felt very depressing and almost prison-like. Thankfully, the staff handled the situation very professionally. Everyone was friendly, helpful and really tried to solve the issue for us. They offered us a room change for the next day, which we accepted. The second room, located on the ground floor in the garden area, was excellent and completely changed our experience. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the room was comfortable, the terrace was beautiful and overlooked the garden. The area was peaceful and quiet, and we could not hear traffic at all. We felt very comfortable there. The shower worked very well, although water leaked out from under the shower door into the bathroom during every shower. It was manageable by placing a towel on the floor, so not a major problem. The WiFi throughout the hotel was excellent everywhere — in the room, by the pool and across the whole property. The minibar fridge also worked extremely well and cooled drinks very quickly. The breakfast buffet was large, varied and very enjoyable.
