Windermere River House

The staff were gentle, friendly people who were very helpful. The rooms were immaculate, spacious and well appointed. The grounds were full of flowering plants and trees filled with bird life. The setting beside the river is gorgeous, very tranquil. We hired bikes and rode to the Hanging Bridge then went on the river in kayaks- a great way to spend an early morning before it’s too hot.

Unfortunately there were only 4 sun loungers.This wasn’t a big issue as there were other chairs, but we all sat around the pool in the morning before it was too hot. It would have been lovely to have a couple of chairs down beside the riverbank to bird watch.

The lovely, tranquil setting. The very comfortable rooms, The delightful Christmas touches, the bird watching hikes. Very helpful staff, Deepak in particular and Ashwin is very knowledable about the local birds.

Nothing comes to mind. It would have been nice to be able to buy some of their own estate grown products, coffee beans, pepper, cardamom etc.

Simon and the entire team at Windermere went out of their way to make sure our stay was special. The food was delicious and the rooms spacious and comfortable. The bikes available are well maintained and the area surrounding the hotel is really beautiful. This is an absolutely stunning property off the beaten track that is well worth exploring.

That we stayed for only one night- we could have easily stayed for longer

From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed (for a very early flight) the service was exceptional! The whole team were so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay totally memorable. To top that off, the food was some of the best we ate in Kerala.

Food was planned according to your wish, displaying food from different areas of India. Fresh and delicious, own or local produce. Close to wildlife experiences like bird sanctuary and kayaking the Periyar River.
