Windermere Estate

This is a lovely unique property. Rooms are spacious and the staff are excellent. Breakfasts were very good and generous portions. The tea and snacks in the afternoon were also appreciated. We enjoyed the both morning and afternoon guided tours / walks - made so enjoyable by the nature lover Meda.

The rooms were cold, even with the extra heaters which were provided. The showers in the rooms weren't great - a bit hit and miss on the heat and pressure. For an advertised boutique hotel, would have expected this to be better. The dinners are generous but average.

Everything was perfect. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful setting, beautiful grounds. Spacious rooms. Amazing friendly helpful staff. Medha the naturalist is brilliant. Jeysu in the restaurant was so great. Plantation walk and bird walk excellent fun and informative. Food delicious. Afternoon tea / coffee with cake and Indian snack a bonus.

Took us 6 years to come stay here. Though we have ended up at this place for a meal almost 5 times in the last 6 years, we always left having the feel to experience this place to more. Finally we did come back, this time to stay and experience their hospitality, and we leaving again not wanting to leave. It was a busy weekend in Munnar. Never have I ever driven to Munnar with constant traffic jams in the ghat section. The moment we entered the property, all the chaos outside was left behind. With such serene and calmness, the property felt a perfect escape. Highlight of the stay was the food. A perfect example of minimal yet wholesome dining experience. You are left with very minimal to no choice in terms of menu in a good way. They have their set course menu, with very basic, organic and finger licking dishes.

We had a wonderful stay at Windermere Estate. Everything about the experience was exceptional — the breathtaking views, the peaceful environment, and the delicious food all contributed to an unforgettable stay. What truly sets Windermere apart, however, are its people. From day one, we were made to feel genuinely welcome and cared for, like part of the family. The service was outstanding, thoughtful, and warm, with the team consistently going above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were incredibly fortunate to celebrate Christmas Eve there with our family, which turned into a joyful and memorable occasion filled with beautiful moments we will treasure. Another highlight was the walk through the cardamom plantation with the resident naturalist — she was excellent, incredibly knowledgeable, and it was a fascinating experience.

My only regret was not staying longer. Our time at Windermere Estate truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we very much hope to return in the future. A stay we will remember fondly for years to come.

Fantastic location. Great pool. Highlight is the viewing platform on a huge boulder.

Windermere estate is by far our favourite place that we stayed in our 3week trip to India. The hospitality is unrivalled and the setting is stunning. The nature walk and birdwatching were brilliant and the staff arranged a guided 10km hike around a nearby tea plantation for us (highly recommend doing this!) Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all incredible and lots of varied options on a daily basis. We also loved the afternoon tea and snack! Can’t recommend staying here enough, we can’t wait to come back.
