Butiama Marine Camp

Great place with amazing staff. The food was great and we enjoyed the variety. Mafia is beautiful and it is worth a visit to the village.

My first contact with the property via booking was not so polite. I misunderstood the message about the transfer and got a quite rude answer. This almost made us to cancel the booking. At the property it was completely different. The staff were great and super welcoming.

The staff was great, food was amazing and location top notch. I did the padi open water diving course and it was all very well organized and managed. The other guests were great and the staff did a good job bringing us together for Christmas night. All in all, I had an amazing time.

The showers for the tent guests were a bit disappointing. If the showerheads are replaced or cleaned it will be significantly better. In current state its still ok. Moreover, wifi could have been better / more consistent but its not the most important thing in the world.

The camp is optimally located and has all the facilities if you like diving or snorkeling in the Mafia Marine Park. The camp serves nice breakfasts and you are able to enjoy lunch and dinner as well if you like. In case you can't make it to breakfast due to a planned activity, they also provide good solutions to take breakfast with you or later. Our bungalow was also a very nice and had a great sea view. They all do by the way.

There is no pool in case you would expect this, but the Marine Park is right at the beach, so who needs a pool in such case.

Staff was very friendly. Any issues we had, the manager addressed right away. Nice and quiet location if that is what you are looking for.

I believe we were in newer rooms, that still needed some basic amenities, like shower soap.

Truly amazing. The staff was the best and the dive center incredible (and so convenient that it's attached to Butiama). Food was wonderful. 10/10 would recommend. Very clean space and the rooms themselves were fairly spacious.

The only downside is that the bed was very hard. We had to ask house keeping for extra pillows so that we could put the pillows on top of the mattress and lay on those.

Amazing stay at Butiama Marine camp. For those visiting Mafia, would 100% recommend. Its location right on the beach is unmatched, excellent breakfasts and dinners, and fantastic staff. If you’re looking to dive, would recommend Mafia Island diving. Staff were much friendlier than those at Big Blu (dive shop at marine camp).

I stayed in the tent which had a normal comfortable bed, an electricity outlet and a fan; the daily cleaning of the tent and common shower/bathroom were exceptional, Wifi was spotty at the same time you have free wifi on a remote island! Daily activities (whaleshark trip, diving etc) were nice and value for money; everybody is doing their best to make you feel welcome. Ask to see the local village/school otherwise you only see the beach and resort!

staff very nice, food at the restaurant very good, and the facilities were really good as well. The owner was a great person, and he owns several businesses in this island which makes many things easier and smoother.

The only reason I left this place was the park fee, which was not hotel’s problem. I think it was a great value if I excluded the park fee
