"Quality stay"

8.0

We have just returned from a trip here. The food and pools are excellent. Plenty of choice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A big shout out to both lifeguards who are the friendliest I’ve come across. Always smiling and getting involved with the kids (countdown on the slides when racing etc) The hotel is mainly French and German families. Whilst we didn’t have an issue here, our boys did struggle to make friends due to some language issues. Lots of food choices and the drinks were excellent. The only negative experience I came across, was the lady who took your photos on an evening when going for dinner etc. She wanted to take our photos. The next day, I did buy 2 pictures off here. But she was very annoyed and told me I was wasted her time (she google translated this). I found her rude. A last shout out to the staff for helping me on departure day with an issue for my son. What they provided us with, I’m very grateful. Thank you. We stayed in room 1001 and perfect location.

"Nice Hotel but could do better"

8.0

Arrived at Hotel, check in nice and easy and shown to room Room clean and tidy with everything you need, great to have a separate bedroom. Was overlooking the pool on the ground floor Main pool was great as there was a swallower which allowed kids to stand up which was great Aqua Park was a great size and was never rammed and everyone was able to go down the slides quickly with no que. Lifeguards were absolutely SUPERB and can't speak highly enough of them. Nice that that there was also water sprayed on the little hill going to the slides to stop your feet from burning. Pool Bar was great and staff always had a smile on their faces which isn't always easy when you have a constant people requesting all sorts of drinks. Same as the Aqua Bar nice touch to have a bar there as the kids certainly needed hydrating after going up and the slide numerous times Only gripe here was that the All-Inclusive stopped at 10:30 and it was table service only, would have liked to have had the option to take a drink back to my room, so in the end didn't bother using the bar in the evening Food - Wasn't the best we have had especially for out 7yr old Grandson who is a fussy eater, very limited range for children which is disappointing especially as it is a family resort. Me and my Wife found the food good enough for us but we ended up eating out more than in due to the limited range for a child Sunbeds, first 5 days no problem getting beds after 9am which is great as we didn't have to get up super early. Last two days a new influx of German and French people arrived and beds were gone well before 9am and the biggest issue with this was they were not used until the afternoon as they had all gone to the beach in the morning. Maybe a walk around to remove the towels if the beds are not used up to a certain time. Disappointed of the lack of late rooms as I emailed the hotel before hand and was told I can book this on arrival, but was told come back the following day. Each day told comeback then comeback on the day before departure but they have made a note and they should be able to help. Went back the day before departure and was told come back after 5pm, went back after 5pm and was told no rooms left !! Shower rooms need a lot to be desired, no lock on the door, not cleaned from previous person using it and was dirty. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would not look to go back, it could be am absolute gem of a place if a few tweaks are made Staff were great and work hard in tough conditions

"Family holiday in June"

10.0

We stayed at the Grand Hotel in mid June. Overall we were very impressed with the hotel and its facilities. Firstly the Spa. It is a wonderful experience, we had a joint massage with Vasilis & Victoria. Their work was excellent and we would encourage everyone to attend at some point during your stay. As has been reported, the hotel is on a steep hill which does get steeper as you approach rooms 1200 and up, around the childrens pool. However there is a call buggy button at the top. The buggies do drive quickly but we walked up to the childrens pool every day with our 4yo and found them always aware and slowed down. We never had a problem with the walk up, just take it in your stride. Food in the main dining room was as you’d expect. Lots of variety trying to cater for a lot of tastes. Personally, I’ll eat anything but we did have a few fussier eaters in our party and there was always pizza and pasta available. We only ate lunch in the main hall once, we preferred the childrens pool bar. It had all the drinks you needed and they prepared fresh food. It does mean you have to wait. As if someone orders 6 burgers to cook fresh and you just want a slice of pizza that’s ready, you have to wait as it’s a simple number system. But you’re on holiday. There’s no rush, we just took to getting a “waiting drink” when we ordered food. The kids could easily go and order their own drinks and food, no problems (12 & 17). Big shout out for Socrates at the kids bar, the man, the legend! We kept to the childrens pool at the top. Unlike the others, it is not salt water. But our 4yo adored the slides and facilities there and could run around without us having to be concerned (he had a swim vest on). We did use the flumes. They were fun, I don’t know if you’d stay all day there. We preferred to go in the morning for 20 minutes then head to the childrens pool. The main pool was always very busy, even for mid June, but always lots of sunbeds available at the childrens. Which also looked like they have been replaced when they revamped the pool. The beds at the main pool are certainly ready for this. Our rooms were lovely and clean. Maid service daily with fresh towels. Air conditioning worked lovely. We had 2 upgraded rooms, they were not together but only 1 room apart which was fine. Word of warning, the rooms can be opened easily on the inside, so our 4yo was running between our rooms a lot. Which is fine for us, but you may want to use something to block the door at night if you have children that would be inclined to wonder off like that. The al a carte restaurants were ok. Not amazing, but nice to go somewhere different for the evening meal. The Italian was better and same for the service. The service in the Aegean seemed very slow. I’d give the mini disco a miss. Its more catered to French and German children. Which is fine if they are the primary users. But I recall mini discos when I was a child and it was just a little thin if you will. It’s in the amphitheatre at 8:45 for half an hour. I’ve read people complaining about the time but it worked well for us as we like to stay at the pool till it closes then take dinner later. The shows after were very good, our 4yo adored the magician. There is a mini van to the beach, I encourage you to go, we only went once and should have gone more. There is a call button on the Hotel App for when you want collecting. We didn’t realise and after waiting a while, walked back but the walk wasn’t a bad walk. There are shops down there and the waves when we went were amazing. It was 10EUR for 2 beds and a parasol. If we’d been staying longer, we’d have had a day down there I think. The sand was lovely and soft. We had a late check out on the last day. So fyi, your All inclusive lasts till 6pm on the final day at the bars, you just need to mention you are checking out that day as there is a chip in your wristband. You will get a ticket when you check out for your evening meal which does include drinks then. It’s 50EUR for late check out of 6pm and 100EUR for 11pm. As our coach was at 11:30 we paid 100 and were happy we did as it made the evening much calmer. There is a lovely jewellery shop at the reception floor and 1 floor down a mini mart which really does have anything you could need/have forgotten. There is a good range of inflatables which they can inflate for you. Don’t worry about water. We bought a pack of 6 bottles from the mini mart first day and wish we hadn’t. You’ll get 3 or 4 bottles with your evening meal to take back to your room every night. They are 750ml and would have been plenty for the 5 of us. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely go again.
